Maria Filomena Mendes
Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Évora and member of CIDEHUS-UÉ. She has a PhD in Sociology and teaches Demography on undergraduate and Master’s courses. She has coordinated a number of research projects in the areas of Demography and Sociology and she has published several papers in these scientific fields.

She got her PhD in Sociology from the University of Évora in 2015, she has a Master's degree in Statistical Modelling and Data Analysis from the University of Évora and a Master's degree in Demography from the University of Lund, European Doctoral School of Demography. With a specialisation in Demography, her research focuses on fertility and the transition to parenthood. She is a member of CIDEHUS-UÉ.

She holds a PhD in Demography from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She is an assistant researcher at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences (ICS), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (CEEC Individual), and a visiting assistant professor at the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences. She is the coordinator of the PhD in Population Sciences (ULisboa) at the ICS and a member of the Scientific Committee. Her research focuses on the demography of housing, demographic ageing and, more recently, the study of Portuguese emigration to the USA.

He was a founding member of the Portuguese Demographic Association (APD) and was Chairman of the APD Board for the first decade of the Association's activity. He was responsible for organising the first three Portuguese Demography Congresses. He was coordinator of the Master's Degree in Demography and Population Sociology at ISCTE and taught Demography for several decades.

Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Minho Institute of Social Sciences, researcher at the Centre for Communication and Society Studies at the same university and consultant in social sector organisations. PhD in Social Sciences – Demography from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). She is the national scientific coordinator of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) and an international consultant on a similar project, the Longitudinal Study of the Health of Elderly Brazilians. She was awarded the Teaching Merit Prize at the University of Minho, two of the projects she coordinated were distinguished with Good Practice Awards and a poster she co-authored, presented at an international congress, received a 1st prize. Her research interests focus on the Sociology of Ageing and Demography. She is the author or co-author of several publications in books, book chapters and articles in international and national peer-reviewed scientific journals.

He has a postgraduate degree in Hospital Administration from the Nova National School of Public Health in Lisbon and in Management and Direction of Health Services from the University of Porto School of Management. Diploma in Advanced Studies in Health Sciences Research from the School of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde – Norte.

A political scientist, she is Director (since 2023) and Coordinating Researcher of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lisbon. Since 2021, she has also been Editor of the European Political Science Review.
She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Oxford (2001). She directs the Electoral Behaviour and Political Attitudes of the Portuguese project as well as an ERC project on the consequences of the politicisation of European issues on national politics.
She has published several books and articles on Portuguese attitudes towards Europe, voting behaviour and the functioning of political institutions in Portugal from a comparative perspective.
