David Lopes
Former CEO and member of the Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, David Lopes holds a college degree in Business Management. He was until September 2014 the President of the international area of Daymon Worldwide (a leading global company in consumers’ brand development) where he was also responsible for managing international joint ventures, business operations development and expansion in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He previously was General Manager at Daymon Portugal for three years, where he led the team that established the hub which became the basis of this North American international business in Europe. He transitioned from this role to serve as CEO of the leading Portugese wholesaler “Recheio Cash & Carry” before rejoining Daymon. His professional career also includes leadership positions in the polish company Biedronka and as member of the Board of Directors of the companies “Parque Expo”, “Oceanário de Lisboa” and “Fundação do Gil”. He is a founding member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council.

D. Manuel Clemente
D. Manuel Clemente was born in S. Pedro e S. Tiago, Torres Vedras, in 1948. He was nominated Bishop of Porto in 2007. He graduated in History and entered the Olivais Seminary in 1973. In 1979, he graduated in Theology from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and was ordained in the same year. In 1992, he completed a PhD in Historical Theology. Since 1975, he has taught History of the Church at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He has occupied the following positions and ecclesiastical offices: Coadjutor Bishop of the parishes Torres Vedras and Runa in 1980; Vice-Chancellor of the Olivais Seminary from 1989 to 1997; Chancellor of the same Seminary since 1997; Director of the Religious History Study Centre of Universidade Católica Portuguesa; nominated Titulary Bishop of Pinhel and Auxiliary Bishop of the Patriarch of Lisbon on 6th November, 1999; Episcopal ordination in 2000; Auxiliary Bishop of Lisbon; President of the EpiscopalCommission of Culture, Cultural Assets and Social Communications, elected in 2005. He is the author of the following works: Portugal e os Portugueses (Lisbon: Assírio e Alvim, 2008); Igreja e Sociedade Portuguesa do Liberalismo à República (Lisbon: Grifo, 2002); A Igreja no Tempo (Lisbon: Grifo, 2000); A Igreja no Tempo. História Breve da Igreja Católica (Lisbon, 1978).

Alexandre Soares dos Santos
Alexandre Soares dos Santos was born in Porto in 1934 and died in Lisbon in August 2019. He attended the Lisbon Law Faculty and began working as a trainee manager at Unilever N.V. in 1957, having had internships in Germany and Ireland. This was the beginning of an international career at Unilever, which included working as Marketing Director for Unilever Brasil between 1964 and 1968. In 1968, he returned to Portugal to join the Board of Directors of Grupo Jerónimo Martins as Delegate-Director, before taking on the role of Chairman of the Executive Committee, which he held along with the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors from 1996 to 2013. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation until his death.

Jaime Gama
Born in 1947, he graduated in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon and led several Ministries in different governments (Internal Affairs, National Defense and Foreign Affairs). He was Member of Parliament from 1975 to 2011, were he held office as Speaker, consequently becoming a member of the Council of State. Presently, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Lisbon University and of the Strategy Board of the Political Studies Institute of the Lisbon Catholic University. Member of the Supervisory Board of the Military University Institute and of the High Council of the Navy’s Centre for Strategic Studies. He also belongs to the Aspen Ministers Forum. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novo Banco Azores and Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the electronic newspaper Observador. He is Senior Strategic Counsel at Albright Stonebridge Group. He was awarded several Portuguese and foreign decorations. He received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of the Azores and is Chancellor of the Ancient Portuguese Military Orders.

António Araújo
Director of Publications and member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, António Araújo was born in Lisbon in 1966. He obtained a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in law at the University of Lisbon and holds a PhD in contemporary history from the Catholic University of Portugal. He was a teacher at the Faculty of Law and teaches now at NOVA FCSH. He is adviser to the Constitutional Court, in unpaid leave, and was consultant to the President of the Republic for political affairs. He is the author of several books and articles in political science, constitutional law and contemporary history. He represents FFMS on the Board of the Portuguese Foundation Center.

Eduardo Marçal Grilo
Born in 1942, got is PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IST in 1973. He was among other duties, General Director of Higher Education between 1976 and 1980 World Bank Project of the General Coordinator in Education between 1980 and 1985; President of the National Council of Education 1992-1995; Minister of Education 1995 to 1999; Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between 2000 and 2015. He is currently the President of the General Council of the University of Aveiro since 2015. he is also de member of other several institutions. He is the author of several publications in the field of engineering and in the areas of Education and Development Aid. He was awarded the orders of : Military Sant 'Iago of the Sword of Merit and Public Instruction.

Pedro Magalhães
Pedro Magalhães was born in Lisbon, in 1970. He has two children. He is a coordinator researcher at the Social Sciences Institute of Universidade de Lisboa. He received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and gained a PhD in Political Science from Ohio State (2003), in the United States. He is the author of various works on electoral behaviour, public opinion, attitudes and political institutions, published in Portuguese and international academic journals and in volumes published by Oxford University Press, Routledge, MacMillan, Armand Colin and Siglo XXI. His published work, both individually and in collaboration with other authors, includes: O Parlamento Português: Uma Reforma Necessária (Lisbon: 2002), A Abstenção Eleitoral em Portugal (Lisbon: 2002), Portugal a Votos: as Eleições Legislativas de 2002 (Lisbon: 2004), Eleições e Cultura Política (Lisbon: 2007) and Eleições Legislativas e Presidenciais 2005-2006 (Lisbon: 2009).
